When mobile service is the right call
- The boat is in the water and staying there. Boats in slips and on lifts are exactly what mobile service exists for. Hauling out for a routine job costs more than the job.
- It will not start, and you do not know why. A no-start is often a battery, a fuel delivery issue, a connection or a sensor. Finding out on site beats towing a boat somewhere to be told it was a corroded ground.
- You need a diagnosis before you decide anything. Pulling fault codes and doing basic testing where the boat sits tells you what you are dealing with and what it will take.
- Routine seasonal service. A lot of scheduled maintenance is well suited to being done where the boat lives.
- A pre-trip check. Before a big weekend or a run offshore, having someone look the boat over at the dock is cheap insurance.
- You do not have a tow vehicle, or the trailer itself is the problem.
When the shop is the better option
We will tell you when it is. Some work genuinely belongs at a proper facility:
- Anything requiring the engine to come off, including repowers
- Lower unit work beyond routine service
- Jobs that need a lift, a test tank, or equipment that does not travel
- Work below the waterline that requires a haul-out

How to get the most out of a mobile visit
A few minutes of preparation makes a real difference to what gets accomplished:
- Have the details ready. Engine make, model, year, and approximate hours. The engine serial number if you can find it.
- Describe the symptom precisely. “It dies when I pull back to idle after running” is far more useful than “it runs rough.” When it happens, how often, whether it is hot or cold, what changed recently.
- Make sure we can get to the boat. Gate codes, dock access, marina check-in, keys.
- Clear the engine area and the console if they are full of gear.
- Mention recent work. If something was serviced or replaced recently, say so. It narrows things down quickly.
- Be reachable. If we find something outside the original scope, we will call before doing anything more.

A note on saltwater and timing
The Lowcountry is hard on boats. Salt, heat, humidity and a long season mean small problems become expensive ones faster here than in a lot of places.
